I’ve now posted the rest of the foot and ankle module programme. As you can see, there are still a few uncertainties in this so it’s important to keep watching the blog.

Read the RCT by Pijnenburg et al (Operative and functional treatment of rupture of the lateral ligament of the ankle. A randomised, prospective trial. JBJS 2003;85B:525-30). OK, not the greatest trial ever but large, reasonable outcome measures and long-term follow-up. Given the findings, why do you think we haven’t changed over to more aggressive repair of lateral ankle ligament injuries? Can you find other studies to fill in the gaps in the puzzle?
